The overview of the Actual Site Visit for External Assessment at Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment
On 23th November 2017, the Center for Education Accreditation, Vietnam National University (VNU-CEA) and Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment (HUNRE) collaborated to organize the opening ceremony of the Actual Site Visit at HUNRE, according to the quality assessment standards at institutional level set by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).

Delegates from Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) included Ms. NGUYEN Thi Huyen, Deputy Director of Personnel and Organization Department attended the opening ceremony. The representative of VNU-CEA, was Dr. TA Thi Thu Hien, Permanent Vice - Director of VNU-CEA. For the external assessment team, there were Prof. Dr. Banh Tien Long- Team leader; Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong- Secretary; Dr. Trinh Hien Mai - Permanent member; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hai - Team member; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Viet Nga - Team member; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Duy Cam - Team member and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Dang Hung - Team member. On the side of HUNRE, there were Assoc. Prof. Dr. NGUYEN Ngoc Thanh - Rector of HUNRE, members of President Broad, University Council, leaders of the units, departments and representatives of HUNRE’s faculties, staffs and learners.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Dr. TA Thi Thu Hien, Permanent Vice-Director of VNU-CEA, affirmed the importance of external evaluation. The main purpose of the educational accreditation is to ensure certain standards of training and to continuously improve the quality of training, to meet the employers’ needs and ensure the rights of learners. Dr. TA Thi Thu Hien also highly appreciated the close collaboration of HUNRE and the VNU-CEA in the preparation process for the actual site visit and suggested that HUNRE should continue to support the external assessment team. At the same time, the Permanent Vice-Director requested the external assessment team to carry out the objective, honest and fair evaluation activities.

MA. NGUYEN Thi Huyen-Deputy Director of Personnel and Organization Department speech at the opening ceremony. She highly appreciated the positive and active of HUNRE in the preparation to serve the external assessment. Besides that, MA. NGUYEN Thi Huyen stressed that this is an important development of HUNRE in accrediting the quality of education. It is also an opportunity for HUNRE to identify its strengths and weaknesses, to improve the quality of training, research and supply high quality human resources for the nation.

Delivering speech at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. NGUYEN Ngoc Thanh-President of HUNRE thanked VNU-CEA and the External Assessment team for helping HUNRE in the process of completing the self-assessment documents. And especially during the preliminary site visit, the team gave some clear and useful constructions for HUNRE to prepare better document. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh ensured that HUNRE will create the most favorable conditions for the External Assessment Team, VNU-CEA successfully completed their mission in this actual site visit.

After the opening session, the External Assessment Team will conduct the evidence documents and work directly with the staff in charge of HUNRE’s different fields. During the days of actual site visit, the team will do additional desktop assessment, carry out group discussions and interviews, examine and collect feedbacks from relevant stakeholders, observe teaching and learning activities, and assess facilities on campus to verify the information of the universities self-assessment report (SAR). Based on the desktop assessment and actual site visit, the assessment team will make necessary recommendations for the university to improve and enhance its education quality.
The site assessment at HUNRE will take place from November 23th 2017 to November 27th 2017.
