On 26^th March 2018, Department of Biodiversity Conservation-Vietnam Environment Administration, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in collaboration with Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment (HUNRE) hosted the Asean Biodiversity Heroes Regional Forum. Attending the forum, there are national and international experts, HUNRE staffs, lecturers and students; and especially the presence of 4 out of 10 Asean Biodiversity Heroes which are Prof. Dr. DANG Huy Huynh-Vietnam; Dr. Nonn Panitvong - Thailand; Dr. Maung Maung Kyi - Myanmar and Mr. Nitsavanh Louangkhot Pravongviengkham - Laos.

Speaking at the forum, Assoc. Prof. Dr. PHAM Quy Nhan, Vice President of HUNRE emphasized: Biodiversity is a very valuable resource that plays a huge role for nature and human beings but it is under serious decline. This forum is an important event to raise awareness and orientation for students in biodiversity conservation. At the same time, through the forum we honor the Biodiversity heroes of Asean countries who have made great contributions and efforts to conserve biodiversity.

Asean Biodiversity Heroes Forum aims to create links among organizations and individuals inside and outside Asean, contributing to improve the effectiveness of biodiversity conservation. The forum shares information, results of activities, research projects which heroes have performed; as well as practical experiences on biodiversity conservation. It helps students raise awareness and direct to sustainable development and environmental protection.
